No commentsTriggerheart Exelica - Wednesday
Well I didn’t get the official mailing yet - probably due to the recent server issues or something - so I am just going to post this based on what is floating around on all the other sites.
Releasing to the XBLA this Wednesday for a cool 800 Microsoft points is Triggerheart Exelica and its prettified HD Graphics, updated musical score and some sort of interesting feature called a V.B.A.S. It’s enough purple colored Japanese side-scrolling action to keep you satisfied for months and months to come. Triggerheart Exelica also promises to make your inner anime fanboy squeal with excitement. Though, we can’t make a guarantee.

Seven, thats right SEVEN FREE Xbox Live Arcade Games
I have been interested in the XNA framework since it was first released. However I don’t think I have the time (nor probably the talent) required to build a fully functional game. In any event Microsoft is going to start blurring the lines between XNA and mass produced games, and making it easier to get user created XNA games on your system. Coming with that announcement is the immediate release of the following seven games free of charge (and developed via XNA)
- “JellyCar.” Created by Walaber from the United States, this game is about driving a squishy car through squishy worlds, trying to reach the exit.
- “Little Gamers.” This is a 2-D high definition action side-scroller based on the famous Web comic “Little Gamers” created by Loïc Dansart, a 24-year-old software developer from Belgium.
- “Dishwasher.” An intense 2-D action platform game created by James Silva from the United States, “Dishwasher” has a unique, highly stylized look and fast and fluid action.
- “TriLinea.” This puzzle game created by Edison S. Prata Jr., Renato Pelizzari da Silva and Davi da Silva Prata from Brazil mixes fast-paced action with strategy.
- “RocketBall.” Created by Tyler Wanlass, Patrick Murty and Todd Barrons of the United States, this neighborhood game of dodgeball explodes onto the street with fast-paced multiplayer action.
- “ProximityHD.” This game, created by Brian Cable from the United States, takes the essence of strategy games — battles for control of territory and armies — and distills it down to a simple, easy-to-understand set of rules for casual players.
- “Culture.” Created by independent game development company Hidden Path Entertainment from the United States, “Culture” contains challenging games and puzzles based on beautiful flowers.
Free Theme & Gears of War Two Trailer

Going along with the news from GDC (Game Developers Conference) that Gears of War will be released November 2008, Microsoft also is releasing some video trailers and gamerpics on the marketplace to tempt you even more.
As I was writing this post I got a new message in my inbox letting me know that you can also head over to Xbox.com to check out the trailer, download some wallpapers…and of course reserve the game.

3 commentsDear EA Sports…
To Whom it May Concern at EA Sports,
After this past NFL season, every fan of your touted Madden series is patienty awaiting the next iteration of your series. I am also a huge fan of the series. I do have some ideas that I want to run by you guys and hopefully you could add into the game and the cover. I nominate Bill Belichick to be on the cover of Madden. Nothing sells class in the NFL like Bill Belicheck.

With the smug discontent and the no nonsense attitude for rulebreaking, he would be the perfect choice for the Madden cover. Obviously we don’t want to promote dirty players or coaches so you should have the NFL burn all evidence of Spygate, even though we both know that he had nothing to do with that. *wink* *wink*
With that taken care of, my next idea would be new mode that could be added into game. This mode would pay homage to Tecmo Bowl. This mode would be called Spygate Mode. Basically you active Spygate mode in the second half, where you’d get to see four plays that your opponent could run. From that screen, you select their play. If you pick the correct play, your team will blow past the offensive line for a sack or a turnover. This mode of course is only available in the Belicheck playbook. Please take my ideas and put them into the new Madden.
Thanks,
DJSteel
P.S. I also have an idea for some Mini games such as Michael Vick’s Pit Bull fighter and Pacman Jones stripper beater.
1 commentGreat Expectations
I’ve completed Assassin’s Creed and I simply do not know why it received all the bad press. The game is really good. I only have two minor annoyances which are the flag collecting can be ridiculous at times and the fighting can be simple. When I read all the reviews for the game and then played it, I had to ask what did people expect with this title? Seriously haven’t we learned from our past? The game has the graphics. The game has the story. The game has the atmosphere. I do not think I have ever seen more polarizing reviews for any game. Some sites rip the game apart while other sites praise it. I think the game just did not meet the expectations of some of these reviewers. I do not think people remember what happens when you expect too much from a game just based on images and videos previewing the game.
If we could flashback to 2000, Daikatana was supposed to be the next generation of PC shooters. In 2003, Brute Force was supposed to be the Halo killer. Both games were duds despite all the hype that was out for those games. I could probably name more but I won’t delve too deep into the painful memories of wasted time and money I spent on these titles and others *cough* Superman 64 *cough*. My point is that gamers AND reviewers get way too caught up in the hype
I truely believe that people were disappointed by the game because they expected the story and environment to totally be what they saw in the previews and hype. What the public thought was the game was a medieval, Oblivion-like game with a more athletic character. No many people of the public expected the science fiction aspect to the game. It was very Matrix-like. Much like The Matrix, a lot of people couldn’t figure out the ending. I admit that I was confused with the writing on the walls but I did find it extremely interesting and it delivered the intrigue that spurred me to research the information. If you haven’t checked it out because of the reviews, I advise you to play the game. I personally can’t wait for the sequel.
