I’ve completed Assassin’s Creed and I simply do not know why it received all the bad press. The game is really good. I only have two minor annoyances which are the flag collecting can be ridiculous at times and the fighting can be simple.  When I read all the reviews for the game and then played it, I had to ask what did people expect with this title? Seriously haven’t we learned from our past? The game has the graphics. The game has the story. The game has the atmosphere. I do not think I have ever seen more polarizing reviews for any game. Some sites rip the game apart while other sites praise it. I think the game just did not meet the expectations of some of these reviewers. I do not think people remember what happens when you expect too much from a game just based on images and videos previewing the game.

If we could flashback to 2000, Daikatana was supposed to be the next generation of PC shooters. In 2003, Brute Force was supposed to be the Halo killer. Both games were duds despite all the hype that was out for those games. I could probably name more but I won’t delve too deep into the painful memories of wasted time and money I spent on these titles and others *cough* Superman 64 *cough*.  My point is that gamers AND reviewers get way too caught up in the hype

I truely believe that people were disappointed by the game because they expected the story and environment to totally be what they saw in the previews and hype. What the public thought was the game was a medieval, Oblivion-like game with a more athletic character. No many people of the public expected the science fiction aspect to the game. It was very Matrix-like.  Much like The Matrix, a lot of people couldn’t figure out the ending. I admit that I was confused with the writing on the walls but I did find it extremely interesting and it delivered the intrigue that spurred me to research the information.  If you haven’t checked it out because of the reviews, I advise you to play the game. I personally can’t wait for the sequel.
