For All You Call of Duty 4 Fans

I was browsing around for interesting things to post to our new home here, and found a new review from Yahtzee Croshaw.Ā Well it’s actually about a week old, but new to me in any event.Ā For those of you that don’t know who Yahtzee, he describes himself as

Yahtzee is a British-born, currently Australian-based writer and gamer with a sweet hat and a chip on his shoulder. When he isn’t talking very fast into a headset mic he also designs freeware adventure games and writes the back page column for PC Gamer, who are too important to mention us. His personal site is www.fullyramblomatic.com.

In any event, his reviews are usually pretty on point, but always funny - I figured all you COD4 fans would like to give it a look

Everything Slowly Coming Together

So as you all know 360friendspot is going through quite a few changes, and I am entertaining the idea of expanding the staff to expand we have to offer here at 360friendspot.Ā Everyone remembers our faithful news guy Johndg - well he is going to continue to fill that role, and joining the team of bloggers here at 360friendspot.Ā That’s right we are going to try and have a team of bloggers posting the news, thoughts on that news, or any original content that they feel worth posting about.Ā Joining that team is also a friend of mine DJSteel - who is actually also from Pennsylvania (woot!).Ā So you should start seeing some stories posted by both of them whenever the mood strikes them.Ā Would you like to join the team and have blogging access to have your opinions seen on the front page of 360friendspot?Ā Send some samples my way - we might have room for more :-)

Like to review games?Ā I am looking add some more members to the “official” reviews section of the site.Ā Keep in mind I have to rewrite how reviews are posted (or simply have them posted to the forumĀ or blog), so it might be a little bit before its ready - but send me some samples if you want to do official reviews for the site.Ā Currently those reviews would most likely be based you purchased, because I rarely get review copies of games - but will share them as they come - and as the site expands, perhaps so will the number of reviews we are given.

Finally, it has been kicked around off and on forĀ quite some time that we have a 3fs podcast, or as I like call it “The 3FS Friendcast” - in any event I did notĀ start this idea, but I wouldn’t mind knowingĀ who is seriously interested in being a part of this team - and what times you would be available for recording etc.Ā The more I thinkĀ about it, the more I would like to give this a shot, and do my best to be part of the teamPlease also let me knowĀ if you have previous experience at podcasting, editing, etc.Ā Ā Ā

So long story short, if you want to blog, review games, or podcast simply email me and let me know how serious you are, what you want to do, and samples of previous work - sound good?

Some Recent Site Enhacements Released

  • Forum Gallery - where you can upload pictures of yourself and view others - does it work? (I seem to be the only one that used it so far)
  • Forum Arcade - great way to waste time - enjoy it guys.

Some things In the Works - or on the List

  • My Games - i still see alot of value using the 360voice games list in some way - though I can see the value in allowing you to select other games too, so I will work on some sort of combination we will see
  • Reviews Area - going to re-add the reviews area on the site, making it possible to read official 3fs reviews
  • Friends Finder - ZaaM will be putting this on his blog, so it will be redirected to there, or removed from the site, or maybe he will let me do some sort of cool remote integration to it, so it runs here, but then says its powered by his friends finder - time will tell
  • Live eye - as you know its going to go offline soon, im going to archive all the information for my personal records before that date, but I also might run some stats, and do a little stats page in remeberance of our little baby.
  • Site Name change - as you know the current site URL is a temporary one, very shortly I am going to have the original 360friendspot domain point to this site, and this will be our official home with its real address.
  • Final Touches - need to put some final touches on the site - such as fix the flash stuff, and also fix the board colors to fit the rest of the site theme.

Lost Disc Holders

Lost Odyssey for the Xbox 360 has been released to the public this week and I am excited at the prospect of the Japanese developersĀ creating a niche within the Xbox 360 market.Ā The game looks great,Ā everything I’ve been reading states that it plays like a traditional Japanese RPG, and it’s been getting decent scores.Ā But for some reason when Americans open the game they see a single disc holder (Picture marked USA) with three game discs crammed inĀ it and theĀ fourth game disc in a paper cd holder, while the rest of the world opens their version (Picture marked Asia), they see all four discs on flippable holders.Ā Why did the American version get screwed with the poor game case layout especially since the 360’s biggest market is in the USA?

Overlord: Raising Hell DLC details

Be extra evil this November as Codemasters announces Overlord: Raising Hell as part of new downloadable content. One free and two premium downloadable content packs coming soon for OverlordTM on Xbox 360.
Unleashing the wondrously evil Overlord and his army of lethal minions for a fresh round of malicious mayhem, Codemasters today announced the forthcoming release of three downloadable content packs for Overlordā„¢, the summer’s hit action adventure from Triumph Studios.

The all-new content will be available this November from Xbox LIVEĀ® Marketplace for the Xboxā„¢ 360 video game and entertainment system from MicrosoftĀ® and comprise of one free and two premium download packs.
The premium downloadable content is led by Overlordā„¢: Raising Hell, an expansion pack that adds all-new single-player levels to the original game. An additional premium pack, the Overlordā„¢: Challenge Pack will deliver a set of all-new online multiplayer maps. Microsoft Points pricing for the two premium content packs will be confirmed at launch. A further downloadable content update will also be available free of charge. This will add split-screen play to all the original game’s multiplayer maps and introduce an all-new multiplayer Survival map.

Premium and Free Downloadable Content Details:

OVERLORDā„¢: RAISING HELL - Premium Downloadable content
—————————————————————————-
Prepare to go deeper into the Overlord’s twisted world as this single-player expansion pack opens a series of hellish new levels. Complete with new enemies and objectives, each new level is a supernatural abyss - a hell for each of the game’s five kingdoms: Mellow Hills, Evernight, Heaven’s Peak, the Golden Halls and the Ruborian Desert.
Access to each abyss is via a portal, which opens once a kingdom has been successfully conquered and the previous ruler banished to a personal hell within. However it’s not just the fallen heroes that have been dragged into the abyss: the Overlord’s newly loyal peasants have also been taken down into hell too.
With the undead denizens of each abyss on the attack and threatening the Overlord’s reign above ground, there’s only one thing for it: assemble your minion army, descend into each abyss and embark on a fresh wave of tyranny in order to return the serfs to their homelands, defeat the fallen heroes once and for all, and claim the throne of each kingdom’s underworld.

There’s pillaging fun with seven new online multiplayer maps, including the competitive ā€˜Capture the Maiden’ map and ā€˜Protect Your Power’, where players must defend the Overlord’s tower against waves of enemy attack.
Putting minions through their toughest workout, the Challenge pack also introduces a ā€œLegendaryā€ difficulty mode, which challenges players to achieve Legendary status by using their most aggressive minion managing skills to complete the game under exceptional bad-ass circumstances.

OVERLORDā„¢: SPLIT-SCREEN MULTIPLAYER PACK - Free Downloadable Content.

The free update will be available alongside the premium packs and will enable players to go head to head in an all-new split screen multiplayer mode. In addition to providing split screen play on all of the game’s original multiplayer maps, the update will also introduce a new multiplayer map, Rocky Race, which sees a pair of Overlords working cooperatively to survive the onslaught of an arch rock giant on the rampage.

All three content packs are set to be available this November from Xbox LIVE Marketplace for the Xbox 360, with Microsoft Point pricing to be announced.
